Biografia
Engenheira do Ambiente, especializada em microplásticos e lixo marinho desde 2011. Joana tem vindo a colaborar em projetos nacionais e internacionais focados na análise de risco de contaminação estuarina por metais pesados (projeto HERA) e na identificação, quantidade e distribuição de microplásticos e lixo marinho nas praias portuguesas, em estações de tratamento de água residual e no biota (projeto BASEMAN). Também colaborou para o desenvolvimento de metodologias de extração e identificação de microplásticos em diversas matrizes. Tem conhecimentos na interpretação de espectros adquiridos através de reflexão total atenuada (ATR) em infravermelho com transformada de Fourier (FTIR) e micro-FTIR para a identificação de polímeros das amostras que analisa. Tem colaborado também em projectos de sensibilização ambiental com a comunidade em geral e comunidade piscatória.
Environmental Engineer, specialized in microplastics and marine litter since 2011. Joana has collaborated in national and international projects focused in risk analysis (HERA project) regarding estuarine contamination by heavy metals, microplastics and marine litter identification, quantification and distribution in the Portuguese beaches, wastewater treatment plants and in biota (BASEMAN project). She also participated in the development of methodologies for extraction and identification of microplastics in several matrices. Knowledge in spectra interpretation acquired thought Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and micro FTIR attenuated total reflection (ATR) regarding polymers identification. Collaboration in environment education projects with fishing and general community.
